As we move into this next chapter, CHGT is committed to becoming a partner and collaborator in supporting the city’s efforts to advance the strategies outlined in Cleveland Heights Climate Forward Plan.
While we’ll continue to work alongside local organizations on education, awareness, and green spaces stewardship, our primary focus for 2026 will be advocacy.
Our 2026 Advocacy Priorities
CHGT will work closely with the City’s Climate and Environmental Sustainability Committee, City Council, and the Mayor’s Office to advance the following initiatives:
Adopt a “Skip the Stuff” ordinance
Require restaurants to provide single‑use plastic utensils, straws, and accessories only when requested by customers.
Expand access to hard‑to‑recycle materials
Increase resident access to recycling options for items such as Styrofoam, pill bottles, and alkaline batteries through permanent sites and seasonal collection events.
Strengthen community outreach
Support citywide educational programs and environmental awareness initiatives that empower residents to reduce waste, conserve resources, and make sustainable everyday choices.
